While its beginnings were inspired by the traditional Grandmothers Fan quilt block, it quickly morphed into a modern scrap quilt.  I think there is only one fabric repeat in all of the fans.

This quilt was made for a friend who is a bike safety advocate, who spends her time and energy thinking about how to make the world a safer and healthier place.

At the time this was made there was a lot of discussion in the quilting community about if old quilts should be preserved or reused, so I composed this note of intention for the recipient.
